Heya fellow Otakus!

Today's topic is .... *drum roll* VOCALOIDS!

(Note: "Ren" should be spelt as "Len".)

How can any otaku not know vocaloids? Surely, you should know Hatsune Miku, at least.

Anyway, for those who don't know, or if you stumbled upon my blog and are not an Otaku, here we go!

What is a vocaloid?

Vocaloid is a singing synthesizer. This software allows users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody. It uses synthesizing technology with specially recorded vocals of voice actors or singers. To create a song, the user must add the melody and lyrics. A piano roll type interface is used to add the melody and the lyrics can be entered on each note. The software can change the stress of the pronunciations, add effects such as vibrato, or change the dynamics and tone of the voice. Each Vocaloid is sold as "a singer in a box" designed to act as a replacement for an actual singer.

Miku Fun Facts:

1. Her name "Hatsune Miku" comes from a fusion of the Japanese for first (初 hatsu), sound (音 ne) and future (Miku (ミク) sounds like a reading of future, 未来, "mirai"). 
2. Miku is the first of Crypton's "Character Vocal Series
3. She was the second Vocaloid to be sold using the Vocaloid 2 engine.
4. First Japanese Vocaloid to use the Japanese version of the Vocaloid 2 engine.
